2015 - Bianca Zorn
After graduating from secondary school, Bianca Zorn left Stendal to study at Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences. There she studied industrial engineering, specializing in production and manufacturing. She graduated in 2008 with a degree in industrial engineering. During her studies, she worked as a student and research assistant at the Fraunhofer Institute in Magdeburg.
From 2009 to 2015, Bianca Zorn proved herself as a project controller at the Fraunhofer Institute in Magdeburg and was responsible for the Factory Operation and Automation IFF division. She managed the commercial processing of projects of industrial clients and public funding agencies as well as EU projects.
In 2015, Bianca Zorn decided to return to Stendal and join the family business ZORN Instruments GmbH & Co. KG.
In 2017, the management of the company was handed over to her.
1980 - Bernd Zorn
Taken over by the engineer and master precision mechanic Bernd Zorn from his father Gerhard Zorn in 1980, the business certified according to ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 with its more than 40 employees is now a modern international organisation with in-house development, design and manufacturing.
1945 - Gerhard Zorn
The engineering and master mechanic Gerhard Zorn rebuilt the business largely destroyed during the Second World War by working as a supplier for the German railways, Deutsche Reichsbahn. In 1955 the manufacture of hardness testers for metal materials was commenced; these testers are still manufactured today by Zorn Instruments.
1918 - Otto Zorn
Taken over by the engineer Otto Zorn after the First World War, the business was primarily involved in repairs in the gunsmiths' trade.
1870 - Wilhelm Schliesser
Founded in 1870 by great-grandfather Wilhelm Schliesser (master mechanic) as a mechanical workshop, the business quickly grew into a factory for safes. It was also great-grandfather Schliesser who made the sewing machine and the velocipede known in Altmark.
